Spontaneous Painting

Spontaneous Painting – Working with creativity and mindfulness.

Einstein-knows-best creativity

Creativity is our essence

Creativity is our birth right. We all have within us a creative life force.

Many of us have grown up learning to distrust our inner feelings and our own creative expression. We learn to conform to what is deemed to be acceptable. Our spontaneity can get knocked out of us, we may have learned that to spontaneously express ourselves is not safe, maybe we were punished, ridiculed  or shamed, causing our natural creativity and curiosity to contract. We can learn to filter our true sense of ourselves and respond to life in what is seen as acceptable ways.

Spontaneous Painting  Workshops

Spontaneous painting can begin to open the door to our own inner knowing. In a safe non judgmental environment you will be gently supported in a group to connect to your own creative energy. There will be time , space and support to connect to the vast and unique creative resources that lie within.

Aims of the Workshop

Opening the door to your creativity

Feeling the joy and vitality that comes from authentic self expression

Experiencing ourselves as the creator of our own artworks and lives.

Having fun, playing with colour

Creating greater self acceptance and awareness.

The Painting Process

Using meditation as a starting point, together we create a space to begin the painting process. Our emphasis is less on the doing mode of painting but more on allowing what ever emerges in the moment. We will endeavor to be present to the painting process in a gentle and accepting way. We will let go as much as we can, ideas of producing an image, and instead connecting to the colours   we begin to learn to trust our creative flow.

We will paint freely and spontaneously on large sheets of paper, using our hands, brushes. sponges, rollers, playing with colour as we we begin to trust the power and passion of the creative flow.

Judgement will arise as we paint, the old inner critical voice,” this painting is ugly,… no good, …I can’t do this….” with gentle acceptance we will aim as much as we can to accept what come forward , just as it is. Allowing ourselves to be and our paintings to be, meeting the paper, the paint, ourselves moment to moment.

Creating mindful awareness we come to know ourselves more through the painting process.

This is a joyful and empowering process, as we give ourselves permission to engage with our own unique way of creating.
