Working with mindfulness ,creativity and Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy: Opening up to the unfolding nature of our lives with care, curiosity, creativity and respect.
We all have within us the resources we need. We are resilient beings ,we can survive a lot of difficulties during our life time. However there are times in your life when you maybe feeling stuck :
Stuck in your relationships, or in work.
Maybe feeling that life is losing meaning.
You may have suffered a bereavement, a break up in a relationship.
You may have suffered trauma in recent times or in the past.
You may feel anxious or depressed.
You may have developed addictions , obsessive behaviors to soothe yourself, to cope with lives adversity .
These moments in your life may highlight that the way you usually meet difficulties may not be working for you. These moments can be an opening an opportunity to explore how you can begin to meet your life in a way that is meaningful to you, in a way that taps into your own inner intelligence.
This is not about judging your anxiety and distress it is viewing it through a compassionate lens of how well your body and mind have coped so far with surviving. Our nervous system is in service to our survival.
Psychotherapy can provide a a safe non- judgemental space where you can in relationship with another gently explore your life experience and open up to the possibilities of healing and growth. With awareness you can begin to meet your life in a way that nourishes your body , mind and spirit.
Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy honours our resilient nature our ability to heal and the unique life experience of each person. My approach to psychotherapy is infused with this trust of your unique wisdom and experience.
I have interwoven into my work the resources that have benefited me in my life. Direct experience is my teacher . These resources are invitational. You may find you connect with one approach more than another.
Mindfulness has supported me in my life and underpins my work. Being present to each moment is a continuous journey. We can find ways together to support present moment experience that feels safe and accessible.
Art therapy is another resource that has opened up creativity and insight into my own healing journey . I offer no interpretation trusting your experience of the process.I am curious and invite your curiosity to witness what emerges through your art work. Art can be a wonderful way to express difficult emotions and unconscious patterns in a safe way.
Body work has been central to my own journey, beginning with my training in the early 90’s with Bio-dynamic psychotherapy. http://www.tracht.ie/content/biodynamic-integrative-psychotherapy
Honouring the body’s intelligence is central to my work. My approach holds space for Mind and Body. For me this is key, inviting mind and body to begin to communicate with each other.
For many of us our early beginnings in life may not have been supportive. Evidence shows the importance of those early years in developing healthy ways of relating to our world and the people in it. It is in these early years that we can adapt strategies of relating to survive that as adults may not be working any more.
I have strong interest in working with early developmental trauma. I work with Neuro-Affect touch that combines talk therapy with touch therapy. Helping to develop a relationship between mind and body. When we have been traumatised we can disconnect from our bodies to survive. NA Touch can provide a safe container in relationship with the therapist in which you can begin the exploration of reconnecting with the body ,learning from it’s wisdom and begin to develop new ways of being in the world that feel safe and connected.
